mother of the brideYour daughter is getting married and like most Mothers you are in search of the perfect Mother of the Bride outfits.

Of course, you don’t want to steal the Brides thunder, but you do none-the-less want to look sensational on the big day. You know that the pictures taken will hang on walls for people to admire (and scrutinise as the case may be) for years to come. That being said it is important to ensure that your Mother of the Bride outfits something stylish, something classic, timeless.

Twenty years from now when your grandchildren look at their parents wedding photos you want their comments to be something like “Gee, wasn’t Grandma stylish, elegant, classy, attractive”.

Here are 4 tips to finding the best Mother of the Bride outfits.

1. What Style Do You Want

It is easiest if you first have in mind a pretty clear idea of what style you want to look for and what suits your figure?

Will you be looking for a skirt or trouser and jacket suit? A floor length dress? Customary for formal weddings. Tea length Mother of the Bride dresses? Popular for daytime or informal weddings. Do you prefer something shorter, something tailored or perhaps you prefer loose fitting? Do you want long sleeves, short sleeves or straps? Weather permitting of course!

Answering these questions will begin to create a picture in your mind of the perfect Mother of the Bride outfit for you.

2. What Color Will Best Suit You and the Occasion

Darker colors tend to be the trend for Mother of the Bride outfits. Maroon and Burgundy appear to be most popular, but what color suits your skintone and what will you feel comfortable in are important factors.

I have seen Mother of the Bride outfits in pale blues and greens that looked simply fetching. Of course, the Mother of the Bride cannot wear white! Red and black tend to be frowned upon as suitable colors for the Mother of the Bride to wear, although if you have your heart set on one of these colors and your daughter says fine, go for it! Something to keep in mind is that if the Groomsmen’s suits are black and you wear black too, the black tends to blend in as one fading you out and you do want to stand out don’t you? This goes for other colors too, so be sure to select a color at least a shade different from the rest of the wedding party.

3. Take Correct Measurements

Be sure you know your exact dress size and measurements. Have your measurements taken by a friend or professionally if necessary. Especially if you are making your purchase over the internet, which seems to be the more popular option these days, with so much variety to choose from and less possibility of ending up in the same outfit as one of the other guests. Oh dread to think! Wouldn’t that be a disaster!

4. Browse Wedding Photos Online

A simple search in Google for ‘wedding photos’ will return plenty of photos to browse and this is one of the best ways to stimulate the creative process. See what other Mothers have worn to get ideas for your own outfit.

You’re almost there! All that remains now is to start viewing what is available that matches the Mother of the Bride outfits you have in mind.

Take a look around the site as there are plenty of ideas, plus I have added some resources in the links area of this website to help with your search. Check them out and if you come across any useful websites that are not already added, please do let me know.

Best wishes and congratulations!

Mother of the Groom Outfits

Finding the best Mother of the Groom outfits for your son’s wedding is priority and you will find something spectacular with just a little bit of hunting around. An important note to consider is that it is customary for the Mother of the Groom to check with the Mother of the Bride before purchasing her outfit. This is considered etiquette and it is advisable to do so, if for no other reason, but to keep the peace!

Same Color Mother of the Bride/Groom Outfits

At a recent wedding I attended the Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom outfits were in the same color and they looked great. It had also been a great opportunity for the Mothers to get to know each other a little better. They had not met before and were in different countries, but chatted on the phone about what color would compliment the rest of the wedding party and after gaining consent from the Bride first, they went ahead and sought outfits of the same color.

You may not wish to wear the same color outfits, but do ring the Bride’s Mother up and have a chat about your wedding outfits, asking for her thoughts and ideas on it. Hopefully, you are going to have a long lasting relationship in the years to come and this is a good way to start the ball rolling especially if you have never met before.

Don’t Be Twins!

Other advantages of course are ensuring that the unlikely event of turning up in exactly the same outfit does not happen – that would be disaster wouldn’t it?

Agree on Length of Outfits

It also looks better if the Bride’s Mother and the Mother of the Groom outfits are the same length. This is not a rule set in stone, but it does look more symmetrical in the resulting photos.

Searching for Mother of the Bride outfits Uk is easy, because whether you are searching for Mother of the Bride Scotland, Essex, Kent or any other city in the Uk there are a lot of shops to choose from. Firstly, you must ask yourself whether you want something off the rack or for totally original Mother of the Bride dresses you may prefer to seek out smaller boutiques and bridal shops or choose to make your own.

Here are some great choices of shops for Mother of the Bride outfits Uk

These are all great options for shops where you can buy straight off the rack. I have made them all links so that you can click and be taken directly to each shop and see what styles they have available.

Also, if you live in or around London or perhaps you might like to plan a special trip into London especially for your shopping spree Oxford Street has a lot of great little shops, just don’t go on the weekend if you can help it as it is unpleasantly busy for shopping.

Lastly, if you are on a tight budget and want to find cheap Mother of the Bride outfits I suggest Matalan which can be found in most cities around the Uk plus they have free delivery on orders over £40. You will certainly be able to find something both stylish and affordable there.

The only down side to buying off the rack is that you may end up wearing the same outfit as another guest, so keep this in mind when making your choice.

I hope you enjoy browsing these shops to find your best Mother of the Bride outfits Uk and don’t forget to bookmark this page for easy reference in the future.

Congratulations! Your daughter is getting married. Finding Mother of the Bride dresses is easy when you are in the right mood and here are my top tips for getting into the right mood:

Here Are My 3 Top Tips

1. Get Measured Up Right Away!

You want to look great at your daughters wedding. Just think of all those pictures and all the people who will see them. By getting measured up early, it gives you time to lose weight if you decide you would prefer to be a size or two smaller by the wedding day.

Remember not to stress about losing huge amounts of weight though, you want to enjoy yourself, not turn your search for Mother of the Bride dresses into some sort of dieting mania guaranteed to end in tears!

2. Purchase Your Mother of the Bride Dress Early

Waiting around could cost you your dream dress being either out of stock or sold out completely.

When you order early there is time to order the exact color or style Mother of the Bride dresses you want without disappointment. Plus, you can then sit back at least comforted in the thought that this one item on your list is taken care of.

3. Confirm the Color of your Mother of the Bride Dresses before Purchasing

Perhaps your daughter has a set color in mind that she wishes your dress to be, this can often be the easy option, but if she says for you to choose, get a look at the Bridesmaids outfits beforehand. It is great if you can have a swatch of fabric, but alternatively a photo will do as long as it depicts the color accurately. Take this swatch or photo with you when you go shopping for your Mother of the Bride outfits.

If you feel unsure as to whether the color you have chosen will compliment the Bridesmaids dresses ask a shop assistant for advice, they will be only too pleased to assist you.
